The Management Team

Choon Chong YEO

Chairman

Mr Yeo Choon Chong was appointed Chairman of Mitbana on 13 February 2023. 

He is also CEO, ASEAN at Surbana Jurong and is responsible for leading Surbana Jurong’s multidisciplinary business in the region. He is also the Group Managing Director of KTP Consultants, a member of Surbana Jurong Group, and was instrumental in expanding KTP’s business operations across Asia. 

Mr Yeo has more than 30 years of experience in leading the design and delivery of infrastructure and urban development projects in Singapore and the region. For his innovative solutions in delivering complex projects, he has received several buildability, design and engineering safety excellence awards. He is a keen advocate for innovative design, sustainability and buildability, and sits on several professional committees in Singapore to promote supporting initiatives. 

Mr Yeo holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree from the University of Sheffield, UK.

Richard NG Keat Wah

Board Member

Richard NG is currently the Executive Director of PT Surbana Jurong Indonesia, where he is responsible for the operations of the Group’s capital investment in real estate & urban development.

Richard has over 30 years of experience leading property and township development in China, Malaysia and in the Southeast Asia region.

Prior to joining Surbana Jurong Group in November 2023, he was the General Manager for integrated property development in Sunway Group Malaysia since 2016. He headed the group’s China property investment and development, successfully delivering numerous residential and commercial projects in Tianjin and Jiangsu. Richard also served as the Project Director with Keppel Land and Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Investment and Development Co. Ltd. from 2008 to 2016, overseeing the township development in Tianjin Eco-city.

Richard has also worked with several public listed conglomerates in Malaysia during his early career and completed various prominent projects in Malaysia, Vietnam and The Philippines.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Technology Malaysia in 1992. He has also completed a Premier Business Management Program by the Harvard Club of Malaysia in 2017.

Philip CHEOK

Board Member

Philip CHEOK is currently the Acting Group Chief Financial Officer of Surbana Jurong Group where he is responsible for the Group’s financial strategies, growth objectives and governance.​ 

Philip has over three decades of global finance expertise, focusing on financial management, business transformation, restructuring and integration, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. These proficiencies have been honed through his strategic leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies, namely General Electric Company, Sun Microsystems (now part of Oracle Corporation) and Ingram Micro. Beyond his contributions in these roles, Philip has worked in American engineering firm Bechtel Corporation on projects spanning diverse locations such as Singapore, Malaysia, the United States and China.​ 

Philip holds a Master of Science in Professional Accountancy from the University College London and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honours) in Accounting and Finance from London South Bank University. He is a Chartered Accountant registered with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and a Fellow member with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK.​

Kenji ONO

Board Member

Kenji Ono has held the role of President Director at PT MC Urban Development Indonesia (MCUDI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), dedicated to real estate development in Indonesia since 2021.

With a comprehensive background over 20 years at MC, Mr. Ono specializes in real estate investment/development, business development and finance, encompassing asset management and venture investment.

His experience includes roles leading Business Development in Digital Transformation strategies and Corporate Venture Capital program within the Urban Business Development Group, prior to his appointment to MCUDI.

Additionally, Mr. Ono has served in various MC's asset management subsidiaries, including the Managing Director (2013-2017) of MC Asset Management Holdings LLC (Stamford, CT) and the Manager (2009-2013) at the Japanese Private Real Estate Asset Manager, Diamond Realty Management LLC.

Mr. Ono holds a B.A. in Political Science from Keio University in Japan and Master of Business Administration from London Business School.

Tomoyuki NISHIDA

Board Member

Tomoyuki Nishida is currently the Acting GM of Singapore Branch and Deputy Chief Regional Officer, Asia & Oceania of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC).

Tomoyuki also holds a directorship in 6 related companies, including Diamond Gas International Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of MC which specializes in Marketing, Trading and Shipping of LNG.

Tomoyuki has three decades of experience in Mitsubishi Corporation, in particular on the global retail and living essentials business.

Previously, he served as COO of retail division in headquarter and lead retail business operation which provides products and services that meet a wide range of consumer needs, such as one of the largest convenience chains.

In his executive career, he has held a number of leadership positions across President Director of PT. MC Living Essentials Indonesia, President Director of PT. Nissin Foods Indonesia, and Senior Managing Director of DAISO INDUSTRIES Co., Ltd.

Tomoyuki holds a Bachelor of Arts in Policy Management from Keio University, Japan. He has also completed a Stanford Executive Program, Stanford University Graduate School of Business, U.S.A. in 2022.

Masafumi MANNO

Board Member

Masafumi MANNO is currently a Division COO of Urban Development & Infrastructure Group at Mitsubishi Corporation. He is based in MC’s Tokyo Headquarters and leading urban development and real estate projects, as well as overseeing subsidiaries engaged in investments, development and assets management in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

Previously, he served as a General Manager of Asia Business Development Dept. and was responsible for investments and urban development in Asian countries including Indonesia and Vietnam.

Masafumi has 30 years of experience in finance, real estate investment & asset management, strategic planning and human resources management in MC’s Tokyo Headquarters and subsidiaries in Japan and the U.S.

Prior to this appointment, Masafumi was General Manager at Urban Development Group in MC’s Tokyo Headquarters and was responsible for human resources & general affairs.

Between 2012-2016, Masafumi was Executive Vice President in MC Financial Service Ltd. (New York, NY) and Chief Operating Officer in MC Asset Management Holdings, LLC (Stamford, CT), during which he formed and led one of the largest commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) conduit projects in North Americas.

Masafumi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce from Waseda University, Japan.

Hironori INOUE

Board Member

Hironori Inoue is currently the Urban Development & Mobility Business Development Department Head of Mitsubishi Corporation Singapore Branch. He is responsible for urban development related new business development including data centre development in South East Asia.

He has over 25 years of urban development business experience including land acquisition, planning and construction management, and PPP project for many kinds of projects in Japan, such as residences, retail malls, offices, logistics as well as data centres.

His prior responsibility included strategic planning and portfolio management of infrastructure funds, which invested in toll roads, renewable energy, power distributions etc.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from Kumamoto University, Japan.

Karen KOH Li In

Board Member

Karen Koh joined as Director, Origination and Partnership at SJ Capital in November 2020. SJ Capital is the investment and asset management arm of Surbana Jurong Group, leveraging the Group’s extensive experience and network to provide complementary expertise in financial advisory; arrangement of financing solutions; raising third-party capital and investment management; and full life-cycle asset management for prospective viable urban and infrastructure investments.  

Karen has over 20 years of investment management and private equity (PE) experience in Asia. She was most recently involved in fund-raising for two fintech enterprises. Prior to that, she was co-founder of a PE fund.

She was previously VP, Strategic Development overseeing M&A activities at Singapore Power. Karen was also Director of Investments at Temasek Holdings. In this role, she invested and managed a portfolio of listed companies and launched a PE fund with a US private equity firm to invest in the transportation and logistics sector. She also oversaw shareholder matters for Temasek-linked companies, including Singapore Airlines, PSA Singapore and Neptune Orient Lines Limited. Karen has also worked at Vertex Ventures overseeing venture capital investments in Europe. 

Karen holds a Master of Science (EECS) and a Bachelor of Science (Aero/ Astro) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.

Daisuke KOBAYASHI

President Director, PT Sinar Mitbana Mas

Daisuke Kobayashi has held the role of Operational Director at PT MC Urban Development Indonesia (MCUDI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), dedicated to real estate development in Indonesia since 2021.

Daisuke has over 27 years of experience in the real estate and urban development industry in Japan and China.

Prior to this, Daisuke was Senior vice President at Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development Inc. (Japan), MC’s 100% subsidiary property developer with a track record of developing various retail and logistic assets across Japan. Daisuke also served as Team Leader of China  Investment Team in Global Real Este unit at Mitsubishi Corporation (MC)  and executed investments into mixed development in china including residential apartment, commercial complex, office buildings and Logistics.

Daisuke holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Economics from Kobe University in Japan. Daisuke has also completed exchange program at ESCP Business school in Paris (2004/ 9-2005/5)

Karolina ASTAMAN

Director, Development Management, Mitbana
President Director, PT Inti Mitbana Development

Karolina Astaman is Director, Development Management in Mitbana and President Director, PT Inti Mitbana Development. She is responsible for the strategic planning, product development and program management of projects throughout their development life cycles.

She has held senior management roles in international multidisciplinary urban engineering consultancy firms for over 20 years in Singapore, China, and Indonesia. Prior to her role in Mitbana, Karolina was the President Director of SJ Indonesia, responsible for the overall management, strategy and growth of the Indonesia office. She has extensive experience in large scale urban design, architectural and transaction advisory for Public-Private Partnerships, and was responsible for the implementation of several key townships, urban infrastructure, and integrated mixed-use planning and design. She has led and worked together with multidisciplinary teams delivering quality, innovative and sustainable design projects for a wide range of multinational clients. 

Karolina joined Surbana Jurong in Singapore in 2011 and was responsible for the Novena Health City master plan. As Business Development Director (Vice President), she established the aviation department, and helped to secure major high-profile projects in Indonesia’s strategic and critical infrastructure sector, such as the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Rail TOD, World Bank Indonesia’s 10 New Bali Infrastructure Feasibility Study, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Integrated Cargo Village, Kediri (Surya Dhoho) International Airport, Krakatau Steel Urban Valley Township, and Subang Smartpolitan Sustainable Township.

With her experience and track record in complex master planning and completion of integrated development master plans, Karolina has led the implementation of integrated townships in China and Indonesia for multinational projects spanning hospitality, aviation, and Transit Oriented Developments. She was also involved in some of Indonesia’s first airport sector’s PPP transaction advisory, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Cargo Village, North Bali International Airport, Lombok International Airport and Aerocity, Labuan Bajo International Airport and Kediri (Surya Dhoho) International Airport.

Karolina has a Master of Arts in Urban Design and an Executive Certificate in Real Estate Finances from the National University of Singapore. She also holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Institute of Technology Bandung. She is an Executive MBA Candidate of Tsinghua-INSEAD Executive MBA Program, a joint program of INSEAD Singapore and Tsinghua University, China.

Maresuke ENDO

Director, Operations, PT Sinar Mitbana Mas

Maresuke ENDO leads the development of strategic plans & investment directives for the Indonesia team and supports the investment team to close-out the deployment of capital in selected urban investments. A secondee from Mitsubishi Corporation, Maresuke has 15 years’ experience deploying & managing infrastructure investments, including a global infrastructure fund manager with US$2.5 billion AUM in the Global Strategic Investment Alliance (GSIA). He also held various roles in the oil & gas industry, including dealing with investments & asset management of FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) & FSO (floating storage and offloading).

Wee Hooi GAN

Director, Commercial, PT Sinar Mitbana Mas

Wee Hooi GAN oversees the commercial and managerial aspects of all construction-related matters for the Joint Venture projects in Indonesia. Prior to this appointment, Wee Hooi was Project Director in Surbana Jurong (SJ) Myanmar from 2016 – 2021 overseeing the planning, execution, control and monitoring of various projects across the country. 

Wee Hooi is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is experienced in administering local and international contracts such as FIDIC, SIA, PSSCOC etc. Wee Hooi has held various appointments in multinational corporations such as WSP Global and Hitachi Nippon Steel, and was involved in multidisciplinary mixed-use projects such as the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort in Singapore, as well as Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) infrastructure projects. 

Wee Hooi holds a B.Eng. in Electrical & Electronic (First Class Hons) from the University of Lincoln (United Kingdom, UK) and holds professional memberships with Project Management Institute (USA), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He had successfully completed a leadership, ethics and corporate accountability program at Harvard Business School.

Minako ARAKI

Director, Finance & Administration
Director, Asset Management

Minako ARAKI is Director, Finance & Administration, Asset Management at Mitbana Pte. Ltd. and is responsible for supporting the evaluation of potential investments. Prior to this appointment, Minako worked at Mitsubishi Corporation’s Tokyo Headquarters, where she was responsible for the management of real estate development projects in Indonesia. Minako has over 10 years’ experience in the infrastructure field, with a focus on airport concessions and its associated project development, business planning and financing.

Minako holds a B.A. in Business Management from Hitotsubashi University in Japan.

Melvin TAN

Financial Controller
Senior Manager, Asset Management

Melvin TAN is Financial Controller at Mitbana Pte. Ltd. and is responsible to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation and planning, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures for any potential investments.

Prior to joining Mitbana, Melvin was Head of Finance at JLL and has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience in the real estate industry, serving a wide array of clientele, driving compliance and internal process improvement to meet statutory, company and client standards. He also instituted strategic digital transformation and was instrumental in driving and implementing of a successful shared service team in India.

Melvin is a Chartered Certified Accountant of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (‘ACCA’).

Yukihiko (Yogi) ANDO

General Manager, Strategy and Operations, PT Inti Mitbana Development

Yukihiko (Yogi) ANDO is General Manager at PT Inti Mitbana Development and is responsible for strategy and operations of the company. Prior to this appointment, Yogi worked at Mitbana.Pte.Ltd as Senior Manager of the Investment team. At Mitsubishi Corporation’s Tokyo Headquarters, he was responsible for the management of real estate development projects in Myanmar, Vietnam and India. In his time in Tokyo, Yogi served as a chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation’s staff union for 1 year, representing over 3,400 employees. Yogi also spent 1 year in Los Angeles, U.S.A from 2012 to 2013, as part of Mitsubishi Corporation’s Global Trainee program.

Yogi holds a B.A. in Economics from Kyushu University.

Kin Yew WONG

General Manager, Project Management, PT Inti Mitbana Development

Kin Yew WONG oversees the development strategic plan and the administration of the development life cycle. Prior to this appointment, Kin Yew was Planning and Design Manager at World Class Global Limited from 2014 to 2021. He focused on project planning and design management for mixed-use, hospitality and residential developments, in various cities within Asia Pacific. Prior to that, Kin Yew was an Architect at one of the top architectural practices in Australia, DesignInc where he was a project lead and was responsible for executing numerous complex projects. 

Kin Yew graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture, from Curtin University of Technology in 2003. He is a registered architect with the Board of Architects of Western Australia. He has also obtained certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a Green Mark Accredited Professional with the Singapore Green Building Council.

 

Hironori NAKAJIMA

Corporate Planning Manager, PT Sinar Mitbana Mas

Hironori NAKAJIMA is Corporate Planning Manager at Mitbana Pte. Ltd. and is responsible for sourcing and evaluating potential investments. Prior to this appointment, Hironori worked at Mitsubishi Corporation’s Tokyo Headquarters, where he was involved in the quantitative analysis and portfolio management of real estate development projects in Vietnam and Myanmar.

Hironori holds a M.A. in Civil Engineering from Tokyo University, where he majored in inter-city transportation planning and management.
